UPCOMING VENUES FOR A DESTINATION WEDDING IN THAILAND—EXPLORING CHIANG MAI
Planning a destination wedding in Thailand is a trend that is enchanting more and more Indian couples with it’s picturesque locations, grand venues, differentiated culture and cuisine as well as ease of transport.

As part of this never-ending quest, Theme Weavers Designs’ team recently embarked on a journey to Chiang Mai, fifth largest city in Thailand but instead of a traffic choked urban sprawl, it presents a picturesque downtown easily navigated on foot, surrounded by mountains and lush countryside. We were invited to explore Chiang Mai as a wedding destination by Shangri- La hotel and Thai airways.
Exotic hotels, convention centres, themed restaurants, royal parks and convention complex can accommodate a varied number of guests and serve as various venues to host the wedding functions.

Shangri-La is definitely the best option when it comes to picking a hotel for a destination wedding. As observed, for Indian destination wedding, usually people book around 150- 200 rooms and they prefer to stay in one property itself, rather than making the guests stay in different hotels.
Shangri-La is about 20 minutes from the airport and has about 277 rooms of various categories which range from INR 13000 to INR 16000 approximately.
The banquet & conference rooms are spread over various levels. There are several event spaces where the various weddings functions can take place, giving the guests a unique experience each time. The Grand Lanna Ballroom can accommodate about 1650 pax – which can be used for the wedding reception and a splendid Mehendi can be done by the poolside.
The in-house spa should be definitely included in the hotel package for the wedding guests. It can be conducted on the day of their arrival to give them a relaxing welcome post their long travel.
Chiang Mai is definitely great as a wedding destination, and can be explored to create a great experience for various celebrations if you are considering a destination wedding in thailand.
